I'm trying to remember a manga title I read as kid. I vaguely remember it was set in a world with ninjas(?), and the main character was a normal guy trying to pass an exam to become a ninja? He was wearing a khaki business suit, a hat, and maybe carrying a sword. The art style was cartoon-ish. It was also a one volume title, either discontinued or ended. If it helps, it was during the time tokyopop was popular with physical mangas.
