This is so ridiculous it should have the "fantasy" tag added. I can see how Japanese parents would prefer to hide and enable a kid like this to avoid public shame, but even then we only got the mom's line "he's the devil but he's our son" as context.

Even in Death Note Light had earn his late job in the police to get the level of power this kid got probably as a birthday gift.

The author threw out any semblance of realism with Okaya and his creepy mind controlled family
it might seem unrealistic, but it does happen in real life. take the real case of Hideaki Kumazawa for example. he and his wife were physically and emotionally abused by their son for years, but they still kept him around and tried to improve things, until the father murdered the son to keep him from killing a child. in the case where they keep such a terrible kid like that around, the familial tie or guilt they feel is too strong or they may not want the shame of needing to disown their child to be spread. im sure we can find other reasons if we look at other cases which there are definitely more of.

Okay yeah. I laughed at that. Like I knew we were getting out of the realm of reality with at least the third guy killed since he was like a terminator.

But come on. XD

I've been collecting comments from the Japanese public on various manga for a while now, and I'm still kind of surprised at how rare it is to find people actually writing comments that show some critical thinking about what they're reading. The only manga I've done this for, and I know I can find some decent critiques, is Aitsu no Kanojo.
"Seriously, what kind of life did these parents lead to end up giving birth to such a special-grade curse?" cracked me up. bro is the sukuna of filial impiety
