even better when used for bullying, the victim won't know it's safe to eat but it's still roaches so the victim got all the mental torture and health benefit of not dying to disease which will prolong the total bully time.

I was just about to edit that in to clarify "better" and you phrased it perfectly.

Which makes me feel such dissonance with the villain because it takes a sick mind to go to this length to be "responsible" in the bullying where you want the victim to be miserable to be sure but not get sent to hospital. Which we know is his reason because he was sad that Nagare died and "got away" so he definitely didn't want that to happen from eating the roaches. Although as I'm writing this I suppose a lesser villain would also do this to avoid hospital finding out what he ate.

It just hit me, you know what would be seriously fucked up?
We know that Maria knew Shizuka from when they were younger
What if Shizuka and Taiichirou went to the same school as her and Shizuka bullied Maria to keep them apart, tried to have her incriminated in uni to get her out of the way, followed Taiichirou like a stalker when he joined the force, and coerced Taijou to cover up the murder of his son as revenge or in the hopes that it would make them divorce
Like, maybe she wasn't even taking pictures of Okaya at the beach, but rather of Taiichirou surfing
Yes, I know it's a massive stretch, but it's far from the biggest plot twist we've had

I think it was mentioned she knew his mother tho revealing that might’ve risked her identity Unless they’ve talked to each other after she became “Maria” tho Nagare must’ve either been in a diff class or not around when Okaya got the male delinquent on his side back in the day/flashback with the teacher or I guess that was closer to middle school age
