i guess you don't have to learn how to swim but i thought a handful of japanese high school had swim classes, if it's not optional b/c i can imagine some ppl wouldn't necessarily wanna be around other classmates even if a school swim suit doesn't look too revealing compared to a bikini , versus their school not having a pool
