Isn't it kinda Old Xu seal that cause the problem? All party have an inkling that the framing was unsuccessful, so even without the whole wood thing, they would want to clean off any trace of mishaps, aka, MC. If the seal only prevents MC from rebelling & doesn't protect, they would only extract the wood & no one would know. They would probably destroy all evidence & be none the wiser.
