It seems like the old ancestor isn't actually that powerful. She's taking more time to recuperate than the ink king, which means she was probably worse off after the fight, considering the method to get her better should be optimal, that is, no worse than the ink king sitting in his nest. If she suffered more in the fight, she's weaker than the king. Of course it's also possible the ink king merely got tired of the human army at his doorstep and decided to attack despite still being wounded. It seems like the old ancestor won't switch back her adult form before she's fully healed, so taking action in the middle of is not an option. That's naturally a huge weakness as well, considering her method of healing, despite being so cumbersome, doesn't seem to give her any benefits, like faster recovery. So, her cultivation technique perhaps offers greater weaknesses than benefits. Actually I don't even know what the benefits are, but I reckon there must be some.
