It's really, really starting to pay off that the cave heavens and paradises kept everything secret. When nobody knows shit, the ink disciples can spread lies as much as they want. If everyone knew that accepting the ink means becoming a slave and leveling up means turning into a monster, then the ink disciples would find less willing victims and everyone would instantly know to try to slay the infiltrating ink agents, not to mention report them to higher-ups.
