Although to be honest, it was Yang Kai himself who lied about the ingredients being nothing special and that he can make it whenever he wants to. In reality he has what he has and then it's gone. Really smart lying about it, but he has grown as a cultivator to the point where lying is as natural as breathing for him, so he's doing it even when he shouldn't.

I agree... he gave them a 'medicine', and didn't tell them to be absolutely cautious as it could literally blow them up.
