lol, there goes the hero's moral high-ground. Sure, the "father" didn't keep his word and make the hero the heir, but since the hero isn't even his real son, where does the dryad mom, the hero and the king get off blaming him for it? The dryad mom reneged on the agreement first after all, so what right do they have to complain about the outcome? If anything, the "father" looks like the victim here since he's the one who's going to get blamed for the diplomatic breakdown even though it's the dryad mom who refused to commit. For all we know, her being cold towards her husband is the only reason he even took a second wife and alternate succession became an option.
