This feels a bit contrived, but alright...

Uhm what. How does being shown a secret ability make a good leader? Thats just bribery from what i'm seeing. Vote for me and i'll give you a cushy position.
Think of it more like, "There's an ability I didn't use in the fight against Kyouka that would have trivialized it, vote for me as the strongest."
"Hey look konomi, one of my secret ability, that's worth a vote yeah?" Author did konomi dirty, unless of course that secret skill is so OP that convinced her otherwise instead, hey I trust you with this secret so vote for me
Literally my thoughts.

Amazing, a full chapter of tallying out votes and they couldnt even finish counting.
One simple reason: The reactions to results are far more important, so need to be separate. Plus, cliffhangers draw people on.

Thanks for the chapter!
it's stupid logic and shows shes easily manipulated. She's a fucking idiot.
Senpai noticed me! Let's ignore everything else and vote for her now!

Did they seriously make counting the votes take multiple chapters? Are we going to see memes about them still counting the votes just like "are they still on Namek?" or "are they still on the boat?" in the future?
The ability that she showed likely had some hypnotic or mind control functions because it just doesn't suit Ren to get off her high horse and share one of her trump cards with anyone.

espically since the nature of the ability was cut out and such a function will fit Ren's control freak personality .

It's my first time seeing Ren's surname's kanji, I always thought it was 山白, which is 'Mountain-White', but it turned our to be 山城 which means 'Mountain Castle', really gives Ren that character of being impenetrable and really high up there.
Also, Kyoka's Uzen kanji is 'feather-front' (which was a name of a place in Japan - but I think it has been renamed now).

"i'm ok with Yuuki being imprisoned and becoming a labrat for the govt. for life"
Konomi.

What a backstabber bitch. "Senpai noticed me so fuck Yuuki lol"

"Konomi-san, i hereby revoke your Yuuki privileges for the foreseeable future"

We should make memes about how they're in California, taking months to count the last votes.

"I showed you my skill, vote for me." - Wouldn't be surprised if the skill itself was manipulation of some form, which urged her to follow along. That, or it was simply powerful.

Well, with Ren's cockiness, it does make it feel like she'll lose, but this taking more than a single chapter for such a small number of votes feels a bit dragged out. Hopefully, they won't just go "Lol, no. Objection!" and leave things interrupted.. They won't, right?

That aside, thanks for the translations! Copycat girl is still cute!

no BIG no. Her entire character is a biased character. Even this chapter shown her biased she is. There is nothing wrong with biased character. The author is the one at fault . It's inconsistent. Her characteristic in past plot already developed for favor to yuki. Unless it's indeed manipulation ability like what above people said
I mean I was one of those people, but why do you think being biased is good? The very definition of the word is unfairly prejudiced…

Scratch that, better question. Would you really want a commander, someone in charge of the lives of her team and the people she protects, to really choose what’s perceived as a less effective option… because they’re friends? Because she’s crushing on a guy? Instead of balancing the information she has on the candidates, and choosing fairly?

I can’t help but think if she did choose Kyouka because she wants to ride the Yuki train again she’d get drugged even worse than now. Tenka doesn’t count because she’s super up front with what she wants and her goals.

I feel like people who defend voting for Ren have forgotten that the best leader is not usually the most powerful person in the room. Voting for Kyouka doesn't weaken the Mato Defense Force because presumably Ren will still be a part of it. So you have the leadership skills of Kyouka along with the power of Ren.

Of course that's also why all of us are hoping Ren loses because we know what she's actually like. We know that she doesn't want the position to better protect people... she wants it because she's a ego-maniacal control freak who thinks shes better than everyone else. So she'll play nice at first but will lose herself either becoming a threat to the entire MDF or at least to those close to Kyouka.

TLDR - Yes she is powerful but she is not fit to be leader.

Pretty forced change of camp by Konomi, since the reason is pretty absurd.

But whatever we're just gaining time for the author to writer the current arc to completion. Behold the next chapters to keep going back and forth until the conclusion.

Ren saying that she wants to take Yuuki from Kyouka and make him her pet makes almost clear that she will lose. The history might allow her to use him from time to time but the main pair must go on.

It seems stupid at first, but upon thinking about it their electoral process isn't so much about secrecy as it is about preventing bandwagoning. An open, public election would influence votes.

Why the lack of secrecy, then? My guess is it's for transparency. Given the nature of their work, whoever wins the commander seat would do well to win the favor of those who voted for their competition. This isn't really a typical government where an opposition serves as a check and balance to the ruling party.

... Or maybe I'm just overthinking and the author just wants an easy way to show who's on whose side.

Maybe the author needed to introduce the anti-cheat ability for some reason.
