As an aside, is it only me who gets annoyed at the waste of killing something and just leaving it there to rot? I mean sure some things are not worth collecting, or nearly impossible to, but that looked like it had some decent materials and a good quantity of meat. So it just feels like a waste. Just think of all the people in the slums that could have gotten a meal or three out of it...

it could also be one of those situations where "animals leave corpses, but monsters disintegrate/dissolve into [magicules/mana/sparkly confetti/ash(delete all that do not apply)]" deals.
