It's quite interesting!
The way everything has been presented so far I'm not even sure if Bessyo is the only (or even) the murderer. The FMC seems to think that Bessyo is the murderer because his scent was heavy with guilt, but that doesn't automatically mean that he killed the man. He may be feeling guilty for some other reason and, on the other hand, a murderer may certainly not feel guilt - especially if they believe that they had a righteous reason for murder.
Interested to see how it turns out.
