The part of me that has been an idol fan in the past wanted to tell Masato that, of course, it's different from being in love. But the rest of me wants Doi to realise he's in love lol

it's always endearing to me when a duo like this are clearly - independent of it being a romance story - fascinated with and invested in each other as people, and michiru sonoo is good at creating that type of atmosphere. their respective types of mild loopiness are aimed in different directions but highly compatible lol

And omg yes! That's so important for me too, especially in romance stories, to be able to see what each of these characters finds valuable and attractive and worth loving in their partner. I think Michiru-sensei is particularly good in showcasing how they support each other especially, and ime that's much rarer in romances that one would think. Her couples just make so much sense together, you know?

To be fair with Doi, Masato was a popular classical musician in the States. The type of fans he had are probably very different from the average Japanese idol fan.
But yeah, Doi wasn't even the type of person to fanboy over idols in first place. To decide his sudden strong feelings over a cool guy are those of an idol fan...

Yeah, good point, this must be confusing for him @.@ On the one hand, he's pretty sure Doi-kun must be in love with him, but on the other, this is a very different subculture?? Maybe this is normal?? Maybe?? XD
