The way Douman connects all these stories boggles my mind. I’m having fun trying to figure out the connections between all the chapters.
Nakano is the officer who tried to trace the assassin girl from the previous chapter, who is Nao from ch. 7’s crush. Then the assassin guy is the same from ch. 3, and both assassins use the assassin ranking system from Voynich Hotel, and ch. 4 features Elena from Voynich. In ch. 3 there’s the giant, bottomless Mario hole, and in chapters 6 and 8 there’re identical signs that say “Danger there’s a large hole beyond this point No entry” which makes me wonder if the signs are talking about the Mario hole. Then in ch. 6 there’s a tornado, which Nakano from this chapter comments is the effect of the comet Melancholia, which was first seen in Ch. 8. In ch. 12, characters are dealing with the aftermath of ch. 8. Of course, the death of the girl from ch. 1 is the catalyst for events in ch. 11. Ch. 6 and ch. 10 have the same octopus play structure, and ch. 10 focuses on the bully from ch. 2, who’s wish was granted at the same shrine as the kid from ch. 11 when they prayed there together .
And then there are the various school uniforms that also connect chapters.
I wonder how Douman plans all of this. Maybe I’m overthinking it
