Im alsoThe thing about rice is sort of cultural. For Asians in general, eating a "proper meal" often means eating rice. Anything that can be main dishs but not rice (i.e. noodles, breads) are considered just something to eat seldomly, to satisfy a "junk food craving". And rice is pretty fulfilling on its own, and it's more often than not eaten with savoury side dishes. As an Asian, I'd crave rice if I go more than 2 days without it, so yeah, I can understand why isekaied JPs are so moved when they can finally eat rice again.
Asian but can’t imagine having white rice on its own without meat, maybe a fried egg but idk how easy it is to keep as a “struggle meal” if ur living on ur own vs cup ramen, depending on how much ppl
Are willing to buy their own rice cooker in college, tho at a restaurant unless it’s a beef bowl/no other option I’d prolly picked fried rice over steamed rice since we always have rice at home
Orange/Mexican rice is pretty good too
