Gonna ramble a bit because I love this game but I'm not sure how to feel about this one yet.
I don't mind them changing the order of events if it's done well, but we missed a whole lot of important pacing and character moments by skipping the whole first dungeon. The beginning of the game was so epic and kind of grim, I'm unsure how the comedic tone will really do it justice.
In game the themes of injustice are a lot more slow-burn and a passive part of the world, if you walk around you'll notice beggars and full gallows. Rather than randomly having a mob character kidnap Maria, activate an action scene and blab his sob story the moment you step into grand trad.
Strohl feels especially flanderized to me. His rather serious (almost implied suicidal 'dying to atone' due to his past) self-sacrificial nature is replaced with just "goofy noble protecc". He CAN be a really silly character in game whilst retaining his depth -- I thought he was a great deviation from the "atlus comedic relief best friend" trope but it feels like he's devolved back into just that here.
I liked the bits with More and the coloured art is nice.
Guess I shouldn't expect too much from a manga adaption of a video game though. I'll see where this goes and hope it encourages people to play the game.
(Please for the love of god if you have any interest, play the game before they get to spoiler territory, it's one that's going to stick with you especially going in blind.)
