It wasn't phenomenal, but it wasn't horrible. It didn't feel axed as much as it felt "thin", which was said by others. The rape facet being unnecessary is harder for me to have an opinion on; typically I'm not a fan unless it serves a legitimate and solid purpose. In this instance, I can't decide if it became unnecessary because the work is "thin" and therefore it was never fully utilized, or it's sole purpose was to highlight the severity of the consequences of the manipulative psychopaths behavior (which would make it at best weak and at worst totally uneeded, dead granny does pretty well alone, though there are hints of at least thematic relevance with the diary and the hotspring trip). It's not my work, so I don't presume to know the intent, just my own thoughts. I did enjoy the short read, but I agree it didn't live up to it's full potential, for whatever actual reason.
As ever, thank you for the translation.
