Also I feel lied to. I thought the companion would be a guy(like suicide hunter). Look at the pic near the end of chapter 6 just before the bear appears versus the pic now when the bear mentions being an incarnation. Doesn't it look completely different? Did the author/artist change their mind mid-story? Was the artist not told? This story isn't exactly a masterpiece but I was hoping they would get rid of at least one cliche.
