@darkrairules say
"I read a Tumblr post years ago that said "in a game with no consequences, why are you still playing on the 'Good' side?" And the response was "bc my no-consequences power fantasy is to be able to help EVERYONE" and God that's so true, I simply cannot pick the mean"

That's exactly it. It's only in fantasy where helping everyone and hurting no one is a distinct possibility if the program is designed that way. In life, with real stakes and infinite complexity, even the smallest risk can result in an unimaginable outcome. There's a special bravery in those who truly understand that and do it anyway, but on the other side of the coin, an unforgivable foolishness in the ignorant and naive who recklessly charge forward.

The main problem is that most games with Good/Evil runs, the evil run is blatantly inferior.
Fable and Mass effect were pretty awful for this.

Cartoon villain evil playthoughs are all lame.
Scheming mastermind with the big ol rug pull is much easier to take emotionally.

That's why they say "No good deed goes unpunished", even if it's a twist from the opposite.
