Really? Wouldn't the better thing to do would be to take down or wear down the resistance first using that big minigun of yours first? Then send in the infantry to mob up the stragglers.

The only excuse I can think off is that the enemy wasn't aware that there were guards around their target. Or they weren't aware of where their target is and needed her alive, so they couldn't recklessly open fire with it.

I don't find it hard to believe the commander of these guys is a moron. Attempting a non-lethal extraction on a moving train is kind of a bonkers thing to even attempt in the first place, nevermind the way they're going about it. Heck, the gun lolis were about to go to bed, relatively assured of their safety. Get a double agent on the inside to quietly knock out the driver, stop the train at a heavily armed barricade/ambush and then surround and flank while the gun lolis are still waking up. Bad guys win, manga over.

(or, well, hopefully over for the sake of our cast. All that would just be the first part of a sussier one.)

That looks like a XM25 on page 2! That thing shoots grenades so small, they are considered exploding bullets, and thus a war crime. The XM30 label appears to be wrong.
