When was the Side 4 Shoal Field established in UC canon? Before or after Thunderbolt? It does feel like the static discharges are a nod to Thunderbolt, but I'm not sure if it's been stated to be like that before Thunderbolt.

pretty sure the Shoal Zone was always a thing (they had a few missions in Encounters in Space for the PS2).

The electric discharge effect I think was introduced with Thunderbolt— I personally love it, even if Thunderbolt itself isn’t considered cannon.
