The bake-jizo is a real phenomenon that tends to happen when a lot of jizo statues are lined up. It isn't supernatural or anything. It's just that when you have multiple people trying to count a series of anything that look uniform but isn't, some are bound to miss some and others would overcount. What's interesting is that the phenomenon ALWAYS manifests on people who actually know the total number of jizo statues. It's because these people subconsciously try to match the number they already know to be true, and this effort inevitably results in them either trying to identify similar-looking rocks as jizo statues or rejecting jizo statues as normal rocks. It's a fun thing to try out yourself.
