I just stumbled upon the author's tweet
https://x.com/matsumoto1325/status/1885876020026450346?t=WYJWnms66qZXJld4bnL_Zg&s=19
(I hope it's not too late, it was announced on the 2nd Feb)

According to google translate
The manga is going to be cancelled and it's gonna end on Volume 2 of the book

Ideally, the author wants to end it on Volume 4

Here's the Amazon JP link for the book
https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4088843169/

You can read the official English on MangaPlus
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/titles/100372

The story is about an office worker stumbled whose passion is to draw/paint, but had to drop it due to family/financial reasons
He had to work hard to get a good job to earn money for his family
He sometimes sketches on his notepad during break hours
A coworker of his caught a glimpse of his drawing and asked him to help her with her manga
She can write stories and draws well, but isn't that great with background

If you like story about making manga, like Bakuman, this is it
This is a rough synopsis I did, it's 4:31 AM
I'm gonna go sleep

Edit:
Wait, I think the google translation is wrong
idk, someone pls correct me if my understanding was wrong
English isn't my first language

I don't understand the purpose of your post, what do you want us to do with all this information?

Please clarify. :pepehmm:

Well, this was shared in r/manga awhile back, I can't find it but there other post from other communitites and a twitter account summarized it:

Yosuke Matsumoto, mangaka of Monochrome Days, has revealed that the series' reception has managed for it to 'avoid being cancelled by Volume 2. Monochrome Days vol 1 has sold 3k in 4 weeks and good viewship (550k views per chapter)
The series is now striving for 4 volumes and Matsumoto asks readers to support the work by reading and purchasing its paperback volumes.

my understanding of google translate was totally wrong
not entirely,

basically:
At first, I was told, "If it's not popular, (we will) end it at volume 2," and so the serialization started. (It's...It's tough~!!) 😖

Thanks to everyone's support and reading so much, I was able to get past the 'route of ending' at volume 2!!
Thank you so much!!! (thank you~~) 😭

And the next step is volume 4,
and I was told, "If the book (paperback tankobon) doesn't sell by then, it'll end there!!" (whaat!!) 😱
So, if there are people out there who say, "I enjoy reading it every week, but I don't have the book...",
then by all means!! How about (buying) the book? :nyoron:

(The storyboards are basically made with the book in mind, so it's twice as fun to read all at once rather than reading it in sections!!)
:win:

Q. Where can I buy the book?
(basically link to amazon shop)

That was a little bit of behind-the-scenes story and a request to all the fans!!
Thank you for reading this far!!! !!

Please continue to support us!! We hope you will continue to support "Monochrome no Futari"!! 😌

The change in schedule from weekly to biweekly also contributed to the decline
