ok, in a glance, this looks very interesting.
another retry of Promised Neverland, maybe?
or manga version of The Island movie.

But then... for now at least... some really doesn't make sense to me.
If they're already so hi-tech that they already have a contained, fully-monitored island enclosed inside an individual space dome,
why would it need to be a restricted area within that island?
It would make sense if it is restricted because of the dome's boundary like in The Truman Show.
Why would you risk placing some "sensitive" area so close to the "experiment (?)" area if you have another dome to place that?

Is it a huge stretch of the imagination that it's logistically convenient to have a 'control center' or some such nearby?

not sure
I mean, even in Btoom the command center is far away from the island, and it is set in "not so far in the future of our world".
So in this so futuristic space colony, putting the command center there is a bit lame

Oh, yes I forgot about the linear progression of technology between two completely different fictional scenarios
What works for one story doesn't necessarily work for another. That's literally all there is to it.

Dome 1984. The fact that it's num bered the same as the book may or may not be a coincidence.
