Well dang, hopefully this is about as far down as she gets kicked for now, then.

But also, I feel like it's kind of shitty how the first actual conversation the manager has is the one where he's preparing to let her go (even if it turns out he had "good intentions" like firing her but getting Momoka to direct her to somewhere she can train a bit more). She's someone he personally scouted for the store, so I feel like if he actually thought she was up to snuff for it in the first place, he should at least put in a little effort + have a discussion with her about her performance issues+improvement before pulling this.

For real. Like I get it: the manager is out here trying to run a business. But like you said he personally scouted her out. Honoka isn't perfect (she has some deep-seated trauma to deal with), but the manager clearly saw potential in her. Only to then fire her and not even try and invest in said potential.

Honestly, after doing this, the manager is a complete piece of shit. Especially if he is aware of Honoka's housing situation. And I'm INCREDIBLY hesitant to attribute his actions here to having good intentions (because throwing someone out on the street for making a reasonable mistake to teach them a lesson means you're looking out for them, right?)

I guess I shouldn't be surprised; so far it's been shown how pretty cutthroat this industry can be. But I really believed the manager at least had Honoka's back here. Turns out he just has the emotional intelligence of a goldfish.

I get your sentiments, but I think you guys are being a bit hard on the manager =0v. He is not the "owner"; he is but a plebian and has to follow the established rules, or else its his arse that's out on the street. He at least observed what some of her problems were(in terms of customer service, not her traumas), and setup a scenario where she could get the necessary training that would improve her ability as a host girl. I do have to question the roundabout way of doing it(the seemingly-awkwardly worded translation doesn't help, though I do appreciate it).

Even so, that setup is weird: if he doesn't want to be found out helping her, getting her coworker to give her a DVD from another establishment in a rather roundabout way isn't necessarily better. From the other girls, I could understand if there's some sort of competition going on for first place. But if he scouted her, and has been following her progress all this time, there better be a good reason for him not to help his employee make money for the establishment, instead losing them money during that entire time because she doesn't get requested as often, especially if his reputation's on the line too.
Maybe it's about her finding a solution with her own strength, but that's still a weak reason to not help her in -any- way.
