...Honestly, at risk of stating the obvious, I see no great duty to thank someone who's doing stuff hoping to get to bed you. It might be pragmatic for social reasons, but the moral duty seems pretty tenuous.
I'm torn so far between some admiration for this series' wisdom in suggesting pragmatically people should be judged not by all the bad things they think but by what they actually do and plan to do, and distaste for the fact that so far her overseeing some guy's pubescent fantasies is basically the focus of the story.
