I wasn't really that interested in Clay, so this chapter was mostly filler for me. it's one thing if you gut through a tragic backstory for a character you actually care about, but this feels like it was just pro forma.

That being said, I still am grateful for the chapter. My feelings about the translation are still of gratitude and appreciation.

Were they told to defend the capital, not go into caves to chase monsters? Seems like not poor decisions for people who were about to graduate to become official court mages.
