little additionnal tidbit, in France, the 1st of mai is a national holiday called "la fête du travail" very roughly translated to "work's party" it dates a good long while and is very much observed.

The bouquet doughnut looks fun to make and eat, wonder if it's meant to be shared among family / friends; one stick for each person, eating while holding 5-6 bouquet at once would felt bit awkward.
