Crunchyroll translated it as Orsted Corporation did. I'm highly confident that that translation is correct. Obviously the subject isn't there in Japanese, so the translations are having to infer it, but Paul and Rudeus's comments about how it isn't something a parent should say to their child make way more sense if he's asking Rudeus to save Zenith even if it kills him, so I think A pair of 2+ is very likely wrong.

I double-checked. Vol 12 Chapter 8 of the official English translation, right at the end: Paul says "Save your mother, even if it kills you". Rudeus even remarks internally that Paul should have said "I'll save her even if it kills me"

I would never trust an "official" translation, since most of them are localizers. I'm referring to fan translations I read back in the day.

The fan translations were of the web novel, not the light novel. And they had plenty of issues too. More writing-wize, tho.

In other news...
I like this translation better; the flow makes sense to a native English-speaking audience/reader, and the meaning of "save this person, regardless of the loss of life" is conveyed far more powerfully with this phrasing than it is with the pronouns reversed.

Telling somebody to sacrifice their life is always different from putting your own on the line; it's equally powerful depending upon what the base society values (e.g.: lineage vs life in general).
