I'll never understand this mindset. I'm not going to do someone else's work just because they forgot to go buy a fucking drink of all things. They need to have better planning and time management if it's that important to them.
Taking time off work is generally a no-go in Japan for any reason, unless you have someone willing to do your work in your absence, which is why it's a trope used in anime/manga often. Their office work culture is ridiculously harsh.
That still doesn't mean it happens often, though, and they made it clear he was only willing to help as a favor since they're friends.
