To the T/N note on page 1: this series is basically the author(s)'s autobiography so those are probably her real measurements :dogkek:
Oh and BMI-wise (assuming 48kg), she's only slightly underweight.

I saw a BMI thingy that asked if you were of Asian descent so I'm wondering if people of Asian descent are just more slightly built and this would be considered normal/average. I think about that a lot when I see weights (especially of women and girls) in manga and anime, because they will think they are fat/overweight/heavy when their weights seem perfectly normal to me.

Pretty sure Japanese are on average shorter than westerners, especially women, their diet also probably makes harder to become fat compared to other countries which help explain the low weight

It's why anime characters are always so shorter and lower weight, it pretty much reflects their reality to some extent

For some perspective, Rider in Fate/Stay Night is one of the tallest characters and she's like only 172, Rin who looks average height is 159, Saber is 154 lol

Another example, look into Shuten-douji from Grand Order, her seiyuu is Aoi Yuuki, they actually have same height, 145

Japanese women are fucking tiny and I wouldn't have it any other way :meguusmug:

Below actual pic of Aoi Yuuki

A mullet is short(-ish) in the front and long in the back, a wolf cut would be more evenly blended
okay but this isn't a mullet
and don't tell me that, tell the japanese, or those who translate ウルフヘアー to wolf cut

which speaking of translators, commenting as I did here is apparently pointless as this is the english TL posted to their pixiv 3 years ago

Yes, Asians have a naturally lower BMI compared to Europeans and a BMI that would still be considered normal for Europeans may already be considered overweight for Asians. So a weight that would be considered dangerously low in the west may still be just a bit underweight in Japan.
On the other end of the spectrum you have Polynesians who have a naturally higher BMI.

I would gladly fight to the death in a gladiator cage over what to call a hair cut, but I don't need to because the official English TL for this chapter also calls it a mullet.

On the topic of the official English translation however, it is listed on the series page. I've not really looked at the English TL barring the chapters I've already done because I don't want to be influenced, the wording feels a bit stiff and times, and translating it myself means I can upload it to Mangadex to be more easily found and searched through. More than anything else this is a hobby project while I'm recovering from an injury and to practice redrawing and stuff with my non-dominant hand, while I appreciate input I'm not really interested in argueing and I don't want to come accross as rude.

Just to weigh back in a little it (and to preface it with the fact that I know 0 Japanese Women so take my words with a gram of soy sauce) the average height for a Japanese Woman is in the ballpart of 5'2 and an average weight around 112~lbs. Minato is stated to be 165cm and "4*kg" which I rounded out to 5'5 and 100lbs though it could be up to 108lbs, given that she's depicted as a tradeswoman who works with her hands somewhat I've assumed it to be inaccurate because muscles are heavy (as a tradeswoman I would know).

However looking back at it taking into account that this is a depiction of a real person it was probably out of line to comment on her weight even if I did do so as a joke, I'll refrain from doing so again. I hadn't properly researched Japanese peoples' weights or heights before informing myself further so I could make a reply though I appreciate everyone getting me to understand the demographic a bit better. Thank you for reading!

I wasn't informed on exact numbers until I did some research to make my comment just above this one but there is definitely a very heavy culture in Japan about being as light as possible, however her weight as stated could be interpreted as up to 108lbs which is in the lower range of what's 'healthy', yeah. Often times though anime and manga characters have unrealistically low weights which is what I was trying to poke at with my TL note, but given that its a real person being depicted it was somewhat out of line for me to do so. Thank you for reading though and I'll be back with more soon, I appreciate everyone informing me in this thread

oh geez, I didn't realize you were the one translating this (I also mistakenly mistook yours for the official when I went to double check and saw the wording was the same. I've now realized my mistake looking at them back-to-back)

I'd also like to apologize for starting to get combative. my initial comment was due to later official TLs of their work using wolf-cut. without the context of tone, your response to that came across as dismissive and lecturing, and adhd lack of impulse control took over. knowing that such is a thing, I really should have a better handle on that
