They broke up for "complicated reasons" meaning he has no idea what he did wrong, as in he learned nothing of women's feeling and keeps making the same mistakes and not learning from the past. That dense mofo doesn't even realize his sister is lying.

Granted he is a teenager, and teenage girls and Japanese people are not known for being forth right with their inner thoughts and feelings. People there are expect to "read the room" Relationships need open honest communication and I think the only open communication that the girlfriends did was confess their feelings and then expect their boyfriend to know their inner thoughts psychically from then on. Blunt open communication seems the only thing that gets through to this guy.

@Mojo To be fair, they probably never told him. I’ll give him benefit of the doubt. It’s one thing not to pick up on stuff, another entirely when 13 girls haven’t told him shit. I’d blame the girls at that point, but we haven’t seen enough of his relationships to make an actual guess.

13? That's nothing, a certain nightmare I know all too well irl seriously dated a new guy each week roughly..
Went on for atleast 20y while I knew her, but likely longer outside of me knowing.
(She never really learned, and usually moved to a new city when she got too infamous.)
Her relationships only started lasting longer after she started pestering me for advice,
which was quite a struggle to give since she's pretty bad at listening too.

Back to the manga..
This guy's not that bad but rather just insensitive,
not helped by the fact noone seems to have bothered telling him or giving him an honest answer.

OK, stepping aside from real life and applying manga logic here . . . he obviously just dated whatever women asked him and then didn't care enough to try to hang on to them, because somewhere below his conscious level he actually has a massive thing for his little sister so there's no emotional room for the girlfriends, and they all left because they sensed this.
