He doesn’t. The flashback is the author, which is confusing. The context about the situation probs came from the statement she made but the rest was prob author trying to exposition dump on us while mc explained what he knew

I was honestly half convinced that she wasn't CM and that CM had plagiarized her, hence the unknown status of the teacher.

My only explanation of how protag knows the basics of the backstory is that the scandal was later actually exposed. It would work technically? I just wish that the author would have shown it if that were the case.
