hello myther nation
happy volume 3 with dilf of the year kano yuri, myther nation
did you all know, myther nation, that on top of this myther chapter which dropped today, the next chapter of vanitas no carte by mochizuki jun released and is pulling at the last edges of my sanity, myther nation
did you know that i'm dying myther nation
anyways before anything else translators my beloved my saviors i BEG y'all for a quick rundown of the kanji behind the master's names of hizuki and jiu, and for that matter shizumi soichi. i know in my heart of hearts that there's some absolute bullshit there that's gonna enhance and intensify and worsen (positive) the reading experience moving forward now that we're steadily getting context and flashbacks of who our IFs used to be. thank you all i love you guys 🥺 🫶
nowwww, baby hizuki and jiu are so fucking cute. it's a shame they're doomed! (this is word for word what yatsuda teki is saying by making sure the first time the two of them meet is underneath that vanitas painting.) unbelievably funny in a strikingly yatsuda teki way that jiu, the master for vanitas, thought the vanitas painting was utter shit. and even aside from the irony, it's also telling in this subtle way of how vanitas thinks of himself, of what happened to jiu, for his new self to be bearing such a name, when everything about his demeanor and personality as a child shows that jiu hated the idea of it.
jiu reminds me so much of yaichi. personable, outgoing, warm, moodmaker of the room, older brother figure. doomed. what happened to hizuki regarding jiu is gonna happen all over again to kyo regarding yaichi. the cycles!!! the neverending!!! the way those who never learn from, or can even remember for that matter, past mistakes are doomed to repeat them!!! YIPPEE!!!!
sataki i love you baby girl, you will always be there to lighten me up after the rest of the myther chapter tries to kill me. i hope she slaps the shit out of yaichi the next time she sees him. (i do not fully believe she will get to see him again. ahem.) and seeing sataki's reaction to and quiet observation of kyo after what's started happening to him is kind of heartbreaking. their relationship is literally everything to me, and the emotions i feel are indescribable as i watch the way sataki can only support him in the silent and invisible ways due to the dangerous position they're both in, even though i'd like to believe that in any other setting they could learn to be honest with each other. but as it is, kyo really has no idea how much sataki is doing for him--by sataki's own design. i don't forsee a happy ending to this where he's able to recognize that in time.
i don't forsee ANY happy ending AT ALL for ANYBODY here but anyways
the confrontation between vanitas and kano. insanity. i'm so obsessed. this shit is the kind of scene that is not only mindrending to comprehend, cathartic as fuck to read through, and agonizing to empathize with--it's also the exact kind of scene that i'm going to be rereading over and over and over again, because it's that
immaculate. the expressions, the posing, the storm of emotions kano rapidly cycles through, the utter blankness of vanitas in return, the GUN, the SUICIDE THREAT, the PRONOUN CHANGE BACK TO JIU'S, the way that despite kano's best efforts he still lost against vanitas. i'm gonna tattoo these pages panel by panel and line by line into the insides of my eyelids.
i will not be doing the same for the pages of vanitas crying because i don't wanna die THAT badly. yet.
and to cap off the chapter is the promise (supposedly...) of finally being able to see the reunion between kyo and vanitas. the meeting between hizuki and jiu. if i haven't killed myself from the vnc chapter, i will be here to see that.
til the next attempted murder attempt by yatsuda teki, i love you all mwah
