I remember him tweeting about this place and even recorded some videos of the corn dog frying process in pg 19-20. I think he purged most of his account because now I can't find them.

The author note about how Japanese people would take fresh caught fish and just eat it raw, yeah I wouldn't eat raw animal products that I saw people physically catch/pick and make into food right in front of me. Gotta have some processing to make sure that there is no parasites or bacteria contamination

Americans really will fry anything, we're kinda crazy like that. Doesn't matter what it is, if there's a way to get it battered up and dropped in oil, we WILL do it.

I mean if you are a food person and you only went to chicago you'd be missing out on southern food
I don't feel like he's a food person, he's really more of a fishing person and only mentions the food he's tried as a side note. Especially things exotic to the japanese.

i've never rly liked corndogs much aside from the pancake batter one, maybe i just dislike cornbread

Tho have had korean 'hot dogs/corn dogs', pretty nice tho inside was kinda meh idk if it was b/c it was like fish sausage inside or below average pork but the potato coating is nice tho i tend to skip the cinnamon sugar they have, maybe if the inside was tteok instead of meat

You'd go anywhere for your friends and fishing/hobbies, I've had a couple of friends visit me even though they really dislike the place I live in.

i mean depending on how much money you have/what you're into, you can still meet up and go have fun/eat in another city

I mean if you are a food person and you only went to chicago you'd be missing out on southern food

"Authenticity" aside i'm sure there are some places that'd offer southern food but other than specific important ingredients i feel like some would be easy to create as opposed to him expecting to find some soba/udon place
