100% , with accident that big there's huge safety risk for everyone so they prob have to closed for few days and investigate the cause
also the explosion panel looks so cool, Arai Sumiko should try more action oriented yuri for the next work

I don't think it directly helped. I think that because Anno saw her power as a weakness, she felt insecure and unconfident. Katsumata admiring the power made Anno reconsider her feelings about her power, which made her more confident and therefore perform better at her job.

That's at least my interpretation.
