Yeah, this manga is very strange and weird. It's not the cool kind of manga where I understand what's happening but I can't guess where it's going, and it's not the deep and complex kind of story with lots of subtext for you to pick apart and interpret like OreGairu. It's just one of those stories where I don't know what's going and and I'm pretty sure it's because the author is just saying nonsense that sounds deep and mysterious while actually not really meaning anything.

I don't... really think there's anything mysterious about this manga's plot, at all? A guy's older stepsister is a troubled teenager, he works to help her and bring her back into the family, what is anything other than crystal clear about this?

Mochizuki is not clear. What does she want? What is she going on about?

Tbh the plot itself is mostly straight forward, it's just all the dialogue. It all seems to be very oblique and hinting at things instead of just outright stating what they mean.

Glad to know I'm not the only one to feel this way. I literally only keep reading to see if I can figure out what this even is and here we are 44 chapters in and I still have no idea.

Yeah, that part is really clear, but Mochizuki is the wrench thrown into the system and I still can't figure out if she went in between the gear and soon will wreck the whole thing, fall through to the bottom without causing any problem, knock something back into its place and make everything smooth, or just stuck somewhere not causing anything for now but will fall off and all of the above is back on the table once again.

Also, is this a calm before a storm or things is really looking up? Feels like the former?

"Family" has been a trigger for Komaru in the past. IF Mochizuki knows that then this is an attempt to undermine her stability.
