Every time i see that with series that are more 'grounded in reality' (minus whatever force is making MC blurt out her true thoughts/feelings [i guess 'psych' tag might be too strong for this but it might tech apply] and that other programmer girl to 'luck into everything'), i'd think some office job anecdotes might end up being a reference/passive aggressive jab at something that the mangaka saw

Not saying they're in the right, but i see the appeal of getting a 5pm drink downtown at the bar with a trusted friend and shit talking your coworkers/boss, at least MC is able to call them out to their face with surprisingly little backlash (and while it'd be good to not overly depend on that one other programmer but she'd prolly be able to 'solve' it without overtime, or maybe she could bluff her way into giving everyone raises/hiring more staff)
