Dude Germany was at a distinct advantage due to centuries of competition and development before it unified. The Nazis had nothing to do with that other than make it worse. They hobbled nuclear science, burned books by the thousands, promoted "rationality" in favor of "over-education", and made all research secondary to "ethnic instinct".
And I was talking about fascism being anti-intellectual in general, not just the WW2 Axis. The Spanish Franco regime, Vichy France, and even the Greek totalitarian regimes all heavily persecuted education and academia. It's a core tenet of fascism: faith over reason and identity over education.
this isn't true at all, for example even modern american scientists don't exist, they are all foreign born. like majority of "american" thesis and research documents are done by chinese or indian nationals, and modern china is more fascist than communist they aren't even communist in the slightest actually, and india under modi is also getting more fascist, and they both obsess over academics lmao.
also this is completely false, germany japan and italy all dominated their scientific fields at the time especially for small size, and franco made more innovations under his rule than the rest of spains era combined aside from the small period when the spanish english wars happened.
