It's not really related to the chapter, but I want to ask.
How do you decide what translation to use, to make sure the dialogue flows really well? I can somewhat understand Japanese when I heard them, but when I put them to proper words they always feel so stiff and just.. in general, kinda bad.
3 years late so whatever.
The gist of it is isn't about how the dialogues flow, yes the flow is important, but it's the context of the conversation that define your word choice.
For example, royalties and nobles stress on etiquette alot, so the word choice for them must be proper at very least, if not refined. In contrast, peasants are straightforward so you can't have them talking in roundabout way.
The process of translation is basically like this: You find the word's meaning at base level (the literal meaning), then you search for their synonyms, then filter out the word you need based on context and the character saying it.
