All these terrible fathers seem to be competing to one-up each other. "Ehh, they can't die" is a terrible response to your children being kidnapped. xD

If the underworld is a place where time has little meaning, I wonder if Ryo's name briefly appearing means that Pai'yan and co's actions altered fate in some way.

I kinda feel bad for the funeral mouse, he just seemed to be doing his job and the funeral he had in mind of Pai'yan didn't sound all that bad.

Toraji appearing as a ghost-thing in the Underworld makes me wonder about his origins. I assumed he was just a normal orphaned kitten that the magic mouse had decided to tag along with, but perhaps there is more to it.

And I continue to be disturbed by how many facets of existence mice have gained control over. Just what are they!?

aslskdfjas i deadass forgot abt this happening, but it pretty much proves that toraji's definitely rio. his name appeared in the book bc he was in a suspended state, his spirit (rio's) has probably been split in half or something? he's half cat half rio with none of rio's memories or something idk. anyway, they're the same person. thats why toraji can see rio in the mirror in an earlier chapter also jose recognizes him in a memory wiped state. from a purely thematic standpoint its also why paiyan is constantly thinking 'wow, is this what spending time with rio would be like' and then we get a meaningful focus on toraji.
