Some people have to make everything complicated and dysfunctional. "You're dying, you want to live to take care of your little brother, here have some immortality!"
"No. I'll come up with some sophistical reason why that's a bad thing and instead I should make you die even though my whole schtick is supposed to be helping things live."
Also "I don't believe what you're saying will really work!" Oh, look who knows so much about immortality! Apparently it's the man who didn't believe in immortality at all a couple hours ago, not the woman who's been immortal for ten thousand years.
