Eh I'd be surprised. I feel like the author doesn't really have the guts for something like that.

As far as narrative framing, the manga does a good job of putting the characters in what feels like unwinnable situations, so you get that "how tf are they going to get out of this alive" feeling. But often how they end up surviving / escaping / etc is like some big ass-pulls haha.
