Hello, I am new here. I don't know if I'm going to be really active here, but I would like to ask about some point of the functioning of the site I don't understand. Many of these questions are out of curiosity, but answers might as well come as handy
How can one create or join a group for scanlation ? Does one have to belong in a group to upload works ? Can you be in multiple groups at the same time, can you change groups ?
What are upload restrictions ? In the rules it basically says "what you can't download", but it also says "An inactive group will have all of its upload restrictions lifted and its leader and members will no longer have automatic editing and deleting permissions to the chapters associated with the group."
Also, in a group information page, you can see "upload restrictions" with an open or closed lock. What does it mean ?
If I find some raws in a random website, can I just translate them, upload them here ? I don't know if this is allowed.
Also I wouldn't know who the scanner was, so I can't have his approval or credit him if I make a credit page, would that be okay ?
Generally speaking, where can I find the person who scanned (and probably cleaned) the raws (their info), instead of downloading it from a shady website ? I don't know anything about them.
Speaking of which, how famous is this site ? Many "manga reader" sites directly steal from scanlation works, and without the credit page, no one would've have guessed who did all the work. Are some "manga reader" site exclusively provided by one scanlation community, like this one for instance ? Is this place a more "closed", unknown community (better imho)?
I have noticed some user created their own website using the mangadex.com domain. How does that work ?
Well, that's a lot of interrogation points in one message. Anyway, thank you in advance for your answers. As you may see, I have zero experience in this field, I've been for a long time just a consumer of the "manga reader" sites without being able to find where scanlators directly do their business.
