Was thinking the same, adopting and raising the children would be a W move. Midori and her new boyfriend could come too, they also deserve a new happy start.

So, if you remember how Butama was in the yakuza's memories, he was at one point seemingly a charismatic strongman that some of the more capable yakuza characters looked up to. That's not what he has been since. I have this weird feeling that his memories of himself already being the meek pedo from before the Nezumi incident are also false memories. I don't think Butama would turn into some last boss character on the ship as his real memories come flooding back under duress, but that would be an interesting twist.
