if he kept it a 'side business', i wonder when the one 'doctor' got involved that needed to brainwash nezumi, tho didn't one guy lure midori to him unless he was just a third party not part of their ranks

So, they didn't know he did that, and they let him live after they found out...? Was he really that loved in the organization? Or was it that they didn't care? Or maybe they just want to know something he knows before they air him out? Man, what a foreboding atmosphere and mystery this story has...

well there was a previous? boss that died before he took over , so i imagine it's not something they would've approved of maybe but considering midori and nezumi were trained as killers too i would've expected it to be normal unless it was shut down and they were literally the only two girls who survived , since yakuza has some 'honor code' and 'sworn brothers' so even maybe they couldn't kill him for this or so/by the time midori and nezumi were taken, he was too high up for anyone else to fight back
tho given his size i imagine most wouldn't have defied him anyways even if they didn't approve

Seems I was right on the money, the child trafficking was a separate organization from the yakuza and Butama was secretely a part of both.
