So.... That was rape. That was repeated no and begging for it to stop. He set a clear boundary of how far he would go.

Not cute, not romantic, you heard him say to stop and forced yourself on him.

And of course it's framed as romantic. Disgusting.

It was extremely disappointing as the translator to come across this chapter as well. In situations like this I remind myself that people outside Japan are not the target audience and what reads to us as rape is seen as a romantic push and pull trope that remains extremely popular in Japan - this doesn't make it okay at all, but I try to take that perspective in terms of cultural difference to get through the chapter. There are 2 chapters left and while I am soured on the series, I will finish it off since I have come this far.

I've always wondered if people in Japan even like this. This is consistent in BL, where the primary audience and writers are those who fetishize queer relationships. Somehow that translates to rape being romantic??

Personally, I didn't enjoy this second story from the beginning, the first was surprisingly thoughtful, so it really feels like two completely different authors telling stories.

Either way, I thank you as a translator for your hard work, even if this manga isn't ending in a very good way.

FUCK YEAH DUBCON
MORE SO HS STYLE
....
He's.... crying....
Oh.... this is not dubcon....

I think it's dubcon if he didn't tell the top to leave. Some dubcon often playfully smacks or yells in the middle how embaressed they are doing it. However, this felt on the borderline of noncon.....

Dude you sound like anime journalist that was being racist to the mangaka in asking how Japan "fetishizes queer relationships." You are not their target audience. BL is loved all over Asia. They KNOW it's not representation of real gay men. Tons of BL writers and artists have said that they only like it and so in fiction. Even the the creator of "my brother's husband" draws and makes TOOOONS of noncon. That's most of his works.

Asian queer media is often used to exploring afab sexualities. To answer why Japanese sex media often have them saying no is related to how in Japanese culture will say "no" because of how shameful sex is looked up. I'm not saying it's okay IRL. I'm ONLY saying in fiction.

I could make a whole essay about Asian queer culture in how different it compares to the Anglo countries and how queer culture in each country is different in all media. I totally get not liking this chapter or if this is not your cup of tea. I totally get it. I don't like what the top did either but I have the power to drop it or continue to read it.
