hmmm, I like that the haunts are shown from their own perspective at first. and the horror they go through not being able to recognize they are the spirits of the dead.

Also super interesting to see that Inubousaki has like ultra rancid occult vibes. Wonder what's up with that.

Hoh-hoooh. This chapter had a lot going for it. I really adore the suprisingly sensible way haunt dispelling works- it feels a little bit like an exterminator who doesn't know exactly the chemical reaction of the poison they use, but they do their job well. The amount of reasonable conjecture was nice, too. And haunting creative genuine ecological damage is somehow an idea I hadn't seen before, but. it makes sense. Life expending it's self on something that's a dead end of energy. Nothing kicked back into the ecosystem for what its taking. Even the most careless living humans provide salt for insects with our sweat, and pull nutrients back into the soil one way or another.

And then the kind of chilling realization that usually. You don't get incomprehensible god-entities all the time. Maybe the god of fear really has descended....

That was a good twist, and a great world-building chapter. I really like how this series keeps portraying horror elements as a natural part of the ecosystem, while still keeping it as something humans don't understand, just learned to live with through generations of experience.

Seeing as their story is told non-chronologically Inubousaki’s aura could be any number of curses, the Birth-Monk’s Well, whatever the family curse is. We know she eventually gets got, this is just more confirmation that whatever it was was BAD!

Perhaps the reason Shioi is shunned by Souichi's mom is because she knew Shioi was cursed. I'm going off on a tangent here but the fact that the family kept their distance instead of trying to help her might signify that her curse was a result of Shioi's own doing.
