Adorned-in-ink, eh? Not a bad name. Seems to be a relatively... I'm not gonna say benevolent, but certainly not actively malicious either. I like how it takes over the page to talk about itself. And then there's the fucking monk. I don't like that thing. What is it about wells being made scary?? Those are vital instruments of survival in olden days, so I am somewhat distraught that we have so many horror stories about wells, both local and international.

Man I always love these summary chapters. It's interesting to learn the way the soul-> monster kind of loop works here. Sounds like as scary as it might have been for the haunts, taking them out like in the last couple of chapters is more. It has to be more merciful then letting things progress, let alone the risk to people and the land.

But that bit about souls just vanishing... somehow that felt eerie in it's own right.

Agreed. Something about the structure of the monk and the way it showed up in the well.... the ropey way it grows. And water is such a dire resource...

Loving all this spirit lore. It's similar to Shaman King, where spirits eventually forget what they looked like and turn into different shapes. Thanks for the upload!

So the Flying Spaghetti Monster religion memes were just part of the Birth-Monk hive mind all along...

More great world-building in this bonus chapter. A great way of explaining and tying together all the different beliefs we already have about what happens to a person's soul after they die. Particularly interesting that what we normally think of as "going to Heaven/Hell" is actually rare, and that our soul breaking down into raw life force and being recycled into new life is what typically happens.

Also chuckled at the reference to reincarnation light novel/manga titles.

I really like little lore / explanation chapters like this, I wish more manga made like like this and Dark Gathering.

It's basically just the normal Buddhist view of reincarnation, just with Heaven being Samsara and Hell being an added-on 'Negative Samsara' I think.

Is that scene of Auntie Sanda looking at a dead body from a past chapter or is it actually foreshadowing of a future one? I don't remember that corpse.
