These "world without Gaku" arcs are so boring because I know they don't matter to the main story.
Wagatsuma impact after he gone to be happened like this. I guess the world without Gaku & Wagatsuma or simply, before time travel shenanigans would be even interesting to dig someday and I hope Hirakawa could release a separate spin off/Gaiden story about the real original timeline before time traveller arrive. I'd say this "timeline before Gaku arrival and after Wagatsuma had gone" pretty much cause this anticlimatic arc, at this point. But who knows, what would the journey of Harumi and the gang would be like in his Sophomore & Senior year

Hiou Academy and the unknown school up at the mountain haven't show up yet and I guess there would probably more threat from those 2 school and probably from the outside of Kumine

In this timeline, the seniors are close for their era to end and would graduating anyway so Shiranui would pass the batton on Mashio to lead Aoba. Hibino absolutely accept the defeat without fight and willingly be allies and beriends with Mashio, his buddy back in middle school, since Kanamori had ran off after Wagatsuma gone. As for now, only Hiou Academy and the unknown school up at the mountain of Kumine (Mako was about to mentioned in Chapter 6 but the conversation was suddenly interrupted and cut off by Rin) are the only 2 remaining school has yet to be taken over.

Not to mentioned, Hiou Academy still had unfinished business with Kougetsu when Kameto decided to attacked Aoba lol

Not gonna try to change anyone's mind but this is maybe the third time I'm seeing this sentiment, and got a ton of thoughts about the matter, but ultimately I think the series suffers tremendously without these contrasting timelines on display.

It is just the same guy, i actually enjoy the timeline without Gaku more, and would have loved seeing Harumi actually conquer the 3 schools, instead of just having it offscreen

At least it's already been written as "The year in 2000 before Gaku Arrival" in the previous panel before the series started to re-telling past timelime scenario

I agree with this sentiment. Gaku is a the typical boring, dense, goofy ass shonen MC. Harumi is far more interesting of a character.
Wagatsuma is my favorite character in this series but I hate how his appearance impact made a situation between MC, Harumi & Ai being more complicated this timeline lmao.

How? All Harumi wants to do is fish. He's the least interesting character. You never see what he's thinking. He's a blank slate who's just 'there'.

In contrast, despite how quiet he (usually) is, Wagatsuma is by far the best character to me

I agree seeing the amount of change caused by Gaku's trigger happy impulse to BS brings a lot of context and amusement to how much he is fucking with the timeline. I love it.

so Harumi just kinda forced to be the leader, if Wagatsuma was still around, Harumi would never take over aoba
